Website Terms of Use

This notice applies to the following products and services: Aura, Identity Guard, ID Theft Protect℠ and Privacy Assist®, Credit Notify®, and Credit Monitoring products. It should be read in conjunction with the Aura Privacy Policy and any other Product Privacy Notices that may apply to the services being offered. It describes data processing practices in more detail that may vary from our general Privacy Policy. Where there is an inconsistency between the general Privacy Policy and this notice, this notice prevails.

Information Collection and Use

The types of personal data that we collect about you depend upon the different services or products that you purchase. In order to provide our services and products to you, we may obtain, for example, your full name; your mailing address; your location information, your e-mail address, phone numbers, Social Security number (excluding Social Insurance Numbers in Canada), passport number, date of birth, credit card information or other account or payment information, as needed. With your express authorization, we may also obtain and provide you with your credit report from one or more of the national credit bureaus. In addition, with your consent or where authorized by law, we may obtain information about you from third parties in connection with providing you with the products or services that you request and to help us better serve you. For example, we may obtain information about you from sources such as public record vendors, technology providers, the Internet and other sources.

If you use our Social Media Monitoring offering or other Aura offerings that require access to one or more of your or your minor’s social media accounts (such as Facebook), we will request that you grant us access to information from those social media account(s). Providing this access is your choice, but you must provide access to at least one social media account if you want to use the Social Media Monitoring service. By providing Aura with access to your social media account(s) or your minor’s social media account(s), you agree that you are granting us access to social media account information to facilitate our offering of the Aura service you signed up for. Information collected from a social media account may include the following about you or your minor: name and profile picture; the names and profile pictures of friends; the email address and phone numbers you link to such accounts; the date you joined the social media service; geolocations from which such social media service was accessed or posted to; all the information that is part of your profile; the content of posts, comments and direct messages made to such social media service, including those you have made to your timeline, to the timeline of others and those made in response to posts made by others; and the content of posts and comments by others that are made to your Timeline or posts to which you also have commented.

If you utilize our financial transaction monitoring service, you agree that you are granting us access to monitor the transactions in the bank account(s) that you provided. The information that we may collect from your transaction data in your account includes personal and financial information such as your name, the name of your financial institution, amount and date of the transactions and the possible location of the transactions, as well as the type of account that you provided to be monitored.

Do We Collect Information From or About Children?

None of our products, services or websites is designed for use by minors under the age of 18. If you are under 18 years old, please do not submit any personal data to us. We may collect information from our adult consumer customers about their children if relevant to the product or service being offered. For example, if your product offering includes a family plan, we offer services for monitoring social security numbers (excluding Canada) and social media accounts for minors.

If you sign up for this service as part of any family plans, you must confirm that you are, in fact, the parent or legal guardian of the child in order to provide and obtain credit or other sensitive information about a child through this service or access to their social media accounts. Except to provide the aforesaid services to enrolled customers, we do not intentionally obtain, use, disclose or retain information about minors.

Sharing

If you voluntarily choose to provide complaint information about scam or nuisance calls you receive, this information will be shared with appropriate government agencies to aid in their enforcement activities. Such agencies include:

  1. in the US, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB); and
  2. in Canada, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC).

This information will also be shared with our scam call protection service provider to better understand your complaint, call block trends, and to inform scam and nuisance call identification.

If you are participating in our family plans and enrolling minors, we will share information about your child with our service providers to provide the monitoring service for your minors. Our service providers are required to comply with applicable data privacy laws and regulations, and Aura’s privacy and security obligations. We also may share information about any minors to protect against fraud or as otherwise permitted or required by law, including the protection of our legal interests.

If you utilize our transaction monitoring service, the information that we collect will be shared with a third-party service provider that we work with, and you may be asked to agree to the terms of their Privacy Policy.
